Power Save Mode

My brother has a problem, where in his computer immediately goes into power-saving mode when he boots; any suggestions I can offer him? Thanks.

Define "Power saving mode when he boots"
Do you mean his pc boots up but the monitor doesn't show anything and the light flashes?? this is usually a graphics card problem, try reseating the card.
Some more detail of the pc's components would be helpful.

On-board graphics, this is a low end comp. He says, when the computer boots, keyboard lights - then dark, monitor logo appears for about 5 seconds, then the words "power saving mode" then goes blank. That is how he describes what happens. It appears that it is going throught the normal boot process, but something is making go into that mode and after that he can't do anything. He says that computer is still running but he can't "wake-up". Sorry for being vague, but that's all the info I have. It's an emachine model T2625 with LG monitor. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

We tried to boot to safe mode, but it did not work. Tried entering BIOS also and couldn't get there either. He seems to recall changing something (I don't know what) in the BIOS recently. Thx for trying to help./

Reset the m/board jumper to clear the cmos and reset default bios values and try booting again.

Its not the monitor anyway!

Probably something to do with your motherboard or video card

As the monitor only goes into power saving mode when there is no signal going to it. Unless it isnt plugged in then it will rant on about "check signal cable"

I have an LG myself

Angry Monitor power saving mode!!

I have the same problem.

I 'start' my computer and it begins to load normally. Then before the desktop is displayed the monitor shuts itself down into standby - and the message 'power saving mode' occurs on screen.

I believe the problem has occured because the monitor was changed to another monitor whilst the computer was loading?

I need help...can i reset graphics card, how?

DuhR Duhr Duhr!

Just open you computer up and switch the little jumper on the motherborad that usaly says "CMOS CLR" by hooking the 2nd & 3rd pins together. Than turn you computer on and it will boot up normaly, then switch jumpers back. if you need to, change the power saving settings that are in the bios. And whats all this bisuness about changing bios settings Dont mess with them unless you know what your doing Maybe you should set a password for the bios on your bro's computer! Well good luck with that
