audio device not working

I just finish installing new OS for my PC, its Winodws XP, but the problem now is that no audio device was detected. I check in the hardware manager and found that the Unimodem Half-duplex audio device was properly installed and is working properly. I dont understand why this happened, what else do i need to do?

Please help!!!!

Before i changed to XP, i was using Windows 2K and everythings working fine, is their any problem with XP?

The Unimodem half-duplex device is for the modem, nothing to do with your soundcard. If there is no entry for your soundcard (shown as "unknown device" in Device manager) you need to install the driver software for it.

but why is it located under the AUDIO DEVICES in the hardware manager window? and together with audio codecs, video codec, and all multimedia related,

Hi Cliff,

Have you installed anything since you installed XP? mobile phone software for example? most of the time thats what it may look for.

Best thing I'd recommend doing is to run a windows update.

This would download most updates that its detected on your machine and should then reinstall the right drivers.

Try and do a google search on the model and this should also work if this fails.
