Need more info, make and model or if not sure Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates.

Hi Bookworm, I see you have helped many people with their computer problems. Im hoping you can do the same for me I've been trying to install a new sound card for past few days and nothing really worked The sound card that Im trying to install is "Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional Series". Before installation, I removed my onboard realtek'97 drivers and disabled in bios. After I install the card into PCI slot and boot the pc, new sound card is detected, then I insert the driver cd to proceed with the installation... After installation is done everything seems fine, but then a balloon message pops up in the bottom right corner saying "A problem occurred during hardware installation. Your new hardware might not work properly." Then I got to Device Manager to see whats wrong. And here is whats wrong :|
I tried all the PCI slots, but same thing Please help me

There is a new driver than the one on the installation CD at Creative for your audio No:1 in list http://uk.europe.creative.com/suppor...ect=1&x=26&y=8

download the driver and save where you can find it - desktop is good - then install this way by updating the yellow flagged audio device and pointing windows to use the downloaded driver

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

Set a System Restore Point before installing driver just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions
