Had another look, there is a Beta driver that is not supported, leads me to think there may be a problem, creative have an Auotupdate, you need to use IE this is the link http://uk.europe.creative.com/suppor...033&OCXTy pe=
also they advice using a PCI slot well away from the graphic card

Bit of a long shot but have you tried Win Update to see if under Custom they have a driver for your card.
What's Device Manager showing, any problems at all

Tried the windows update also, it couldn't install the driver "Creative - Sound - Creative X-Fi Audio Processor (WDM) 7/10/2007" for some reason...might be my windows. This is the message in Device Manager for Multimedia and Audio Controller
"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver." I don't know what else to do...

Try a System File Check go to Run – type “sfc /scannow” (without the quotes and note space after sfc) have Win disc available in case sfc needs to replace or repair any files. The programme runs with no alerts and then closes.

Install the sound card, give the installation disc a good clean, when the found new hardware wizard opens just go with the prompts.

Still same thing. Before installing the drivers, I ran the Driver Cleaner Pro to make sure they removed.

Now this is a shot in the dark, I had this problem when I repaired Windows, the Win installer was not right, I used the method 1 the dos command to correct it. Now I know you have SP2 installed I did too, but could not install any Automatic updates. As I have said it's a shot in the dark

It may be best to search for the file to see if the correct one is installed before changing.

Hello Bookworm,
It's me again seeking help. Sorry to be a pain. A short while ago you gave me some very useful info regarding downloading drivers for my PC. Initially they seemed to work a treat...however, when I came to actually play any of my 'music' on my PC (Windows Media Player, Real Player and music from any sites), every time a track started, the sound kept constantly jumping as if there was little gaps in the music. After about 20 (annoying) seconds, it stopped but then continued at the beginning of every new track played. It seemed to stick. I have checked all my leads and connections and they all seem fine. Eventually it became unbearable to listen to my music with this occuring all the time so I uninstalled the drivers and decided to try to reinstall them. The link you gave me was this >>>
Go here to Shuttle and download the Audio for AK38N http://eu.shuttle.com/archive/en/ak38_faq.htm#download
I have tried to download them again but each time I get the webpage up it doesnt seem to let me download them, basically it seems to 'time out' and takes ages before telling me i cant download the file - on i.e too.
I wondered
a) is there another site I can download them from
b) would the jumping on my music be driver related
and
c) are there any other drivers that would be ok to use if the aforementioned was the case?
Once again, many thanks in advance for any help you are able to give.
Regards:
Skinno

P.S - The sound of the speed of the music when played also appears a little slower whilst jumping and the problem seems to escalate when I minimise or maximise any other open programs if I'm online. Also, I recently have downgraded from using a netgear router back to a BT Voyager 105 modem after reformatting my hard drive. I dont seem to be able to get the router to work again, even though it seems to be in perfect working order, it appears unable to make a connection so I went back to using the modem (which is so much slower). I'm not sure if this is relevant but thought I'd mention it.

The audio is Realtek go here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...tDown=false#AC
Download the (Executable file) save to desktop, double click downloaded file on desktop to install
The site is slow
Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions
