True, I dont suppose he could contact PB, but the only number I know is for the UK. It's strange even tho they don't do support for NZ, I thought they'd still have archive stuff on their systems.

check this

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device

So bookworm, you seem to be a sound goddess. Please help me if you can. My Multimedia Audio Controller is somehow not installed on my computer. I think I may have done it myself, by accident. I have a Dell Optiplex GX260 and I have gone to the Dell website with no luck. Please let me know how to get my sound working again. Thank you. And let me know if you need more information (and maybe where to find it).

go here to Dell http://support.euro.dell.com/support...X_PNT_P4_GX260

first install the Chipset driver - then Restart your comp

then the audio driver - it can be picky to install so try installing using the If No Setup File method

Create a folder for what you are downloading

Example: Audio
Then download the zipped file to that folder

Then download and install Winzip
Go to the folder and right click and click Winzip extract to here

That will automatically make a folder and unzip files to it (make a note of file path)

Then go to folder and click on Setup file and follow instructions displayed for installation

If no Setup file

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

Set a System Restore Point before installing any drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions

Gigabyte not recognising the board, I think I know the audio driver, but to be sure can you Get Everest / copy and paste the Computer – Summary section. Leave out the Debug –PCI section.
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Edition.shtml

Install Everest and run
Click Report (top menu) > Report Wizard > Next
Choose System Summary Only > Next
Choose Plain Text > Finish and wait for report to generate
Click Save to File and leave the File Name as Report, then click the Save as Type dropdown and choose Report files (*txt) and click Save (n.b. Save to desktop is best as easy place to find it, use Browse to locate desktop)

Do NOTE that some parts of this report may have information on your email address and IP address, edit these out and resave the text doc before attaching
