My Audio (and Video) are now working.

Working solution!! One of Barbara-Bookworm's earlier replies in the Archive told the user to go to Control Panel, find the Yellow ! ? beside audio or video and R-Click to uninstall. I would recommend one at a time. Reboot the computer and Windows XP will find the Hardware and install. I did this and it worked for my onboard video card. Failed for the audio card on the first try. I went to BIOS and found that the onboard sound or audio card was a VIA-3058 AC97 (Info is hidden in BIOS sub-menus) . Again, I read Barbara's advice and downloaded the Realtek driver (Realtek http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false). First I uninstalled the Multimedia Audio Controller with a R-click in Control Panel, then rebooted and when WinXP found the new hardware, I chose "Pick from List". It gave me four choices. I chose the VIA and AC97 and installed. After that install, when there were no errors in Control Panel but still no sound, I ran the downloaded EXE from Realtek. I have VIDEO AND AUDIO. Thanks Barbara!
NOTE: ? ! Multimedia Audio Controller and ? ! Video Controller (VGA Compatible) means the computer has no idea what to try and install. It sees "something" but doesn't know what. If WinXP can't detect during a "New Hardware Found" routine, then you have to tell the computer what you have and pick from a list.

Need to know if useing intergrated video or a graphic card, thats why I wanted to know the make and model of your comp. I can link you to the motherboard from Intel, but these are all onboard drivers, if you have a graphics card installed they will not work.Look over your comp, a label on back or anything giveing a model anywhere on the comp.

Cheers

The Trigem Florida is used in emachine eTower 336i and eTower 400i, if you have one of these models the audio is on a PCI card. Go here http://www.emachine-upgraders.info/d...ownloads.shtml

you will find the audio driver for these 2 machines, the latest is for Win 2000

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Hope this helps

Hi,

I’ve assembled my new machine and finished a clean install of xp pro on it.

I noticed in device manager there is a ? next to "other devices" which lists Multimedia Video controller. And Multimedia Video controller comes with yellow “?” with a small “!”.
Also “nVidia WDM Video Capture (universal)” has a small yellow “!” below.

Double-clicking on Multimedia Video controller pops out “The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)”.
Double-clicking on nVidia WDM Video Capture (universal) pops out “This device cannot start. (Code 10)”.

I tried to find the driver in motherboard’s CD, Nvidia CD and ASUS+Nvidia websites. No good.

Could you help me out here please !?

Try this way, put the Nvida disc in cd drive, then close, but leave in CD drive. Go to Device Manager / right click problem devices / select install / the Hardware Wizard will launch, follow prompts to install, but say no to go online to Win Updates / when it asks if you have CD say yes / Device Manager will find the driver from the disc and install it for you.

One more point did you install the Chipset from the motherboard disc

Hope this helps
