Multimedia Audio Controller for "Time" Computer
Hi, I've reinstalled Windows XP Home SP2 on our home PC after it was running badly. Everything is perfect now apart from no sound. The computer is a Time Computers 8366-8233 with a MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD MS-6382 motherboard. Could anyone let me know the driver I need to install to get the sound back.
Thanks

No I'm afraid I can't find this board, all I can suggest is to install the driver this way, using the If No Setup File method
Installing Drivers
Create a folder for what you are downloading
Example: Audio
Then download the zipped file to that folder
Then download and install Winzip
Go to the folder and right click and click Winzip extract to here
That will automatically make a folder and unzip files to it ( make a note of file path)
Then go to folder and click on Setup file and follow instructions displayed for installation
If no Setup file
1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish
SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

There are a few models in the M300 series, look under the notebook the model will be shown, none of the models I have looked at had Realtek, this is a list of the models in that series,
http://support.gateway.com/support/s...e=mo_M300.html
if you need more help, just post the model

Ok, so I don't know much about this computer because my dad normally deals with it but it hasn't had sound for a while since xp got restored. When I try and download the realtek drivers ac'97 that is recommended by the computer from the official website it crashes mid way through installing and a blue screen comes up and it doesnt install. I wanted to know if these are the right drivers and how to get sound back again. The multimedia audio controller thing says no drivers are installed for this device. I was wondering if this could help to find me drivers that will work. this is from belarc.

It looks like you have a sound card installed, there will be 2 sets of audio plugs, one set on the I/O plate and one set in an expansion slot see here
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...0io%20slot.JPG
the onboard sound for that board is Soundmax, but let me know which audio plugs you are using, try the other audio plugs as well
