Me too...oh where oh where have my audio hardwares gone

Bookworm you seem to be the goddess of information and helping so I may as well see if you will help poor little me.
it tells me no audio device is installed. A little background is that it worked at one time then while skipping ahead a song in winamp it shut down and wouldn't come back up...disk was dammaged and I replaced it with a brand new drive. Apparently my copy of xp has been used one time too many (by me) and I tried linux for a second. didn't like it but I had sound. Now I have reloaded the xp over the linux after a thorough format and it tells me no audio device. it says all my dll's are in and working but nothing is working.
hope you can help me.
heres my Belarc data...

This is the driver from Dell for your sound card http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=119882

Any problems with it, the driver is here at Creative http://uk.europe.creative.com/suppor...ct=1&x=27&y=11

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case

Your audio plugs must be on the I/O plate for this driver to work, if you use an expansion slot then you have a Sound Card installed, see here, click the image to focus

My computer doesn't have any sound. The Multimedia Audio Controller in the device manager has that yellow question mark on it. Apparently I have to update/download the driver for it, but it doesn't have an internet connection. I need to find out where to get the driver, but I don't know the manufacturer of anything in the computer. I downloaded and ran Belarc and CPU Z after seeing it suggested on some other sites, but how do I use that data? Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.
