Any ideas where to go from here? New soundcard?

Soundmax can be a stinker install this way, make a note of where the Soundmax unzipped driver is you need to tell XP to use it

If no Setup file

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

Download the (Executable file) save to desktop, double click downloaded file on desktop to install

The site is slow

I dont hav the mobo driver CD.. nor do i know the mobo manufacturer []
I just formatted the HDD and installed Win XP SP2.
It also gave problems during installation, hence i disabled the Ac 97 audio from BIOS setup, further installation was error free.
But now whenever i enable audio from BIOS ...
It shows up A BSOD as soon as it detects the new hardware in windows...
Hence i am stuck wit no sound......
PLs any help wld be appreciated

need more info Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates.

Your Realtek audio and Video VGA driver are here at MSI
http://asia.msi.com.tw/index.php?fun...=1&prod_no=234

Installing Drivers

Create a folder for what you are downloading

Example: Audio
Then download the zipped file to that folder

Then download and install Winzip
Go to the folder and right click and click Winzip extract to here

That will automatically make a folder and unzip files to it ( make a note of file path)

Then go to folder and click on Setup file and follow instructions displayed for installation

10. Click Finish.

your audio and monitor sockets must be on the I/O plate for these drivers to work - click image to focus - http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...0io%20slot.JPG

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case

Start instructions / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a Restore point and follow

I'm having the same problem as a lot of people here seem to be having. I don't have sound on my computer. When I checked the device manager, under Other Devices, Multimedia Audio Controller had a big yellow question mark in front of it. I followed the instructions for some of the other people here and downloaded Belarc. Below are the specifications that I was given. If I didn't include enough information, please let me know. Thank you so much.

Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600)
Dell Computer Corporation Dimension 2400
Enclosure Type: Space-saving
Board: Dell Computer Corp. 0G1548 A00
Serial Number: ..CN7082153GA03M.
Bus Clock: 400 megahertz
BIOS: Dell Computer Corporation A05 12/02/2003

I am not very computer literate and this is the first time I've ever posted to an area like this. I'm not even sure if I can make it back here to see if anyone answers me. LOL Would anyone mind emailing me an answer? My email is sidney213@hotmail.com
