Unhappy Windows xp Only boot in SAFE MODE help plz

HI, I have a problem when I boot windows xp pro... it would start booting and then go to that screen that say windows xp professional and the status bar on the bottom that would back and forth... but it would stay there forever and the computer just idles but the bar still moves back and forth. The thing that works is if I boot it under safe mode. I am open for suggestions that would work... besides restarting my computer from scratch...

I have already reinstalled windows xp pro once already but that didn't work too well. I know it's some type of hardware or driver problem since it only boots in safe mode, but is there to pin point the problem??
help plz
THANKs

You may have too many programs trying to start at the time of start-up. Have you tried to wait long enough to see if it would finally start? If it does, I would recommend downloading bootvis from microsoft that actually helps speed up boot times, worked for me.http://www.microsoft.com/hwdev/platf...ot/BootVis.asp

Or you can go under your msconfig menu and disable some start up programs to find the culprit, just a hunch though.

Well longest I waited is about a hour and it doesn't boot up at all, the computer just idles and the harddrive led isn't blinking or anything to indicate that anything is going on... I think it's still something to do with drivers or hardware and I just need to pin point it but dont'know how... thx for your response..

Get the utility from your drives manufacturer's site, run www.memtest.com free to check your RAM.

Check your devices in safe mode to see if there are any warnings. Remove your cards except for video of course and boot that way.

You didn't leave too much info. I guess there goes your weekend.

Good luck

the www.memtest.com place only tests pc100 rams, I use ddr Also I can find the software that would test the rams for free there.

Well I kinda fixed the problem for like about 30 mins, I realized I had two sound devices installed but one on-board and another is audigy sound card I removed audigy and windows xp pro booted 5 times in normal without any problems.... but when I shut it off for like 5 min and turned it back on it got stuck at that screen again and it will only boot in safe mode... I don't have much devices installed it's just video card in the agp slot and a ethernet card in one of the pci slots. I don't see anything else that could be causing driver problems. open to anymore suggestions and ideas.

Did you download the new soundblaster audigy drivers? When I bought SB Audigy, it did not have winxp drivers on it and I was told to download from creative's website.

You may try disabling your onboard sound since you have a soundcard, just a thought. Good luck.
