Mysterious Restarts

I am using a Windows XP with Service Pack 2 and my computer has started restarting by itself since yesterday. I have already checked my event logs and it seems that everytime my computer restarts or crashes is when I games. I am getting event error 1000 but i have no idea how to resolve it. I have just disabled auto-restart when i get an error so i can check what is going on. Anyone that has any ideas to stopping the restarts and crashes please help!

Thanks in advance

That looks like a nVidia driver, do you have a nVidia disply card, look in Device Manager any yellow ! showing anywhere. You may need to upgrde your nVidia driver,

Hope this helps

Nvidia Geforce x440 is my graphics card i think...uhm it did not come with a disk so i cannot reinstall it. The crashes and restarts are starting to get really annoying and i want to put a stop to this. Would a system restore stop this? Note that this started happening once i finished installing a game. I have opened my device manager and tried updating my drivers...but i had no CD so it just searched the net..found nothing

found this from nvidea...
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_91.31.html

seems to have drivers for ures....

Before installing new drivers make sure you uninstall all NVIDIA display drivers from the Windows Control Panel. Browse to the Start Menu > Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and search for "NVIDIA Windows Display Drivers" or "NVIDIA Display Drivers" and select remove.

Im unsure if a system restore would sort ure prob out but IF it is as u say that u suspect a new game started it then id say yes it should..as ure rolling the system back to before the install...(not 100% though)

Have you tried uninstalling the offending game ?

To tell you the truth, I have not tried it yet because i am not really sure if thats the cause...it took me maybe 6 tries to install that game because of installing crashes and such. If reinstalling the drivers don't work then i will uninstall the game. Any other ideas?

Thanks In Advance

is the game worth ure sanity ? if it took 6 goes to install then im guessing its not compatable somehow...either sys requirements or vid card isnt good enuff or maybe the card just needs updated drivers.....

Bah, starting to crash again..this time during games and while browsing(it crashed while i was writing this so heres my second try lol).

Heres the error: IO_ERR_CONTROLLER_ERROR
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\D. Event ID: 11

Explanation
This problem is typically caused by a failing cable that connects the drive to the computer.

User Action
Replace the cable. ( What Cable ) - Ahh froze again but unfroze

Cause
Possible causes include:

A hardware failure that prevents communication with a disk (for example, a loose cable, a loose disk controller card, or a cable failure).

What can I do to fix this????
