moniter turns off but not on

a screen i have on a computer sometimes turns off and will not come back on without a complete system restart. The moniter is nearly new and isn't causing the problem but i am unsure what could be causing this.

It turns off as though it is going into powersaving mode so i ave turned off that function, but still it does the same. Does anyone know where i would start with this issue.

You could have a look at Event Viewer, it may give some clues.

Right click My Computer / Manage / Properties / Event Viewer/ Applications + System / any red X's right click / then use link to M$ Help & Support to see if a soloution is offered.

Is your graphic card, onboard? or a seperate PCi / AGP card?

I'd have your monitor tested out.
