xp and outlook 2000

I am running XP Pro. I was using outlook express as my email client. I wanted to install Spam Net but it only works with Outlook. My computer did not come iwth Outlook, so I installed a copy of Outlook 2000. It imported some of my file folders and settings automatically. I had to install the address book manually. When I send a message it goes out, but when I try and receive a message I get a notice from Microsoft that there was a problem and then Outlook closes. I removed the Outlook account for mail and reinstalled it manually. Same problem. Can someone help me? Thanks
