Need Help Keep Getting Blue Screen Of Death

hello hopefully some one can help

have a pretty old amd 1800 (5 years old)it has 512ddr memory and 80g hardrive with windows xp pro

everything was working fine till a couple of days ago my system wont start windows i keep getting the blue screen of death saying windows had to shut down to prevent damage and it says "bad pooler caller" i have no problem reformating my hardrive but it wont let me i try to do it with the windows xp set up disk at start up and i get all the way to the windows set up screen it loads up some drivers then i either get the blue screen again with the same message or it will just freeze i need to get this problem solved and all help will be appreciated
