Can Anybody send me sndvol32.exe
Hi
I face problems with sounds and audio devices. When i click the options in the device volume i get the following error. " Windows cannot display the volume control on the taskbar because the Volume Control program has not been installed. To install it use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel." This is because of the missing " sndvol32.exe". The microsoft has given a solution to this issue ( http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;Q319095 ) but it needs XP cd. I have lost them. Can any body extract this exe from your cd and can you send it to my account... sathia_viggu@yahoo.com
With regards
Vignesh

If you have the I386 folder on the harddrive (not all XP installations do), you can extract a copy of the file from it.
To do that, go to Start>Run, type "msconfig" (without the quotes), click OK.
On the General tab, click the Expand File button. Fill in the fields with the file you want to extract (in this case, sndvol32.exe), extract it from C:\I386 and save it to C:\Windows\System32.

hi, im having prob wth this....in the General Tab, i dont see any Expand File Button...what should i do? By the way, I'm using vista. Help please!!
When I had xp, i was always able to record windows/any sound from this crawler toolbar mp3 & radio record thing....but now in vista..when ever i try to record anything, it says that Automated Mixers not found and because of that all the recordings will be silence...so none of the recording files have anything on it....I've tried to fix that....I found this 1 webpage where it says Vistas dont come with soundcard mixers/PRAXIS (SNDVOL32.EXE) and to get it from xp's installation cd....
I got the SNDVOL32.EXE from here (thanks to whom uploaded it) and I opened the application....but still my recordings are coming as muted and they still say Automated mixers not found.
What should i do? Should I put the SNDVOL32.EXE in the C:/Program Files/Praxis folder? (i really dont have da actual folder..just a Praxis folder from a different kind of Audio thing) or should I extract it like u said from msconfig? (by the way, I dont think i have a I386folder)
Helppppp!!!

THanks 4 replying. Was going nuts. I can access the volume control and it even says Aux working/Device working. I have Realtak HD Audio installed as Audio drivers and my mic recording works just fine. Bt I dont get hy i cant record any windows sound. I tried that, ofcourse Vista as its unquie lameness doesnt have Sounds Run Dxdiag...but I do have audio driver installed. The whole thing I dont get is my Xp had Realtak Audio (not High Definition which it suppose 2 be a better version of Realtak) and the recording for windows sounds worked just fine....but here in Vista I'm unable to record anything because they muted it! And the Audio Manager/Control says all devices is working!

Open Windows Explorer not Internet Explorer (Start\All Programs\Accessories\Windows Explorer ) Go to C:\Windows\System32 and open the dllcache folder. Locate the sndvol32.exe file then right click it and choose copy. Next go to the C:\Windows\System32 folder and open it. In the right pane right click anywhere in an empty area and choose Paste. You should have your volume icon back.
