Help finding a tracker

I was wondering if anyone knew of a program that tracks all the changes made to a computer,files, registry, etc., when a program is installed. I installed a codec pack and i think it may have left some adware behind but i cant find it. So i want to install it on another pc and see exactly what its putting into my pc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

WinXP allows you to roll back to save points etc, I've also seen handy registry comparison tools too.. try google it's what I usually use.
