Question presario 6404us mx video problems

I am running a Compaq Presario 6404us MX series (piece of crap) and I upgraded to Windows Xp Pro from Home. Now my video card and 3d accelerator won't work. It needs new drivers. Any Help on where to find then. I tried Windows Update and they don't have them publicly available yet.

thanks

do you know what kind of card it is? or is it an onboard video system? if it is an nVidia card, then that is easy. go here. if it is onboard graphics, need more info, also more info if ATI card.

reply to video drivers for presario

It is an onboard system. I believe it is part of the pro savage 3d series, but none of the drivers built into xp pro won't work.

the only thing i could think of that was sure fire, was going to compaq for the XP driver, but it looks as if they don't offer that
pc with XP.the best thing i know to tell you is to get a cheap graphics card. you will need to look inside to find out if you have an AGP slot or not, as compaq likes the stripped down motherboards. they do have PCI versions if you don't have an AGP slot. if you go the PCI route, make sure you buy the card with the most memory that you can afford. it will help to offset the losses from the slower bus. sorry i couldn't be of help. but, the thread is still open...
