I've just done a clean install of windows XP. Install went normal and when I finally getting into xp everything runs great. All my hardware and software runs awesome but It take my computer 45 minutes to an hour to get past the XP startup screen with the green bar moving from left to right. While this screen is up my HD light is on constantly or blinks on and off every 15 second or so for an hour then loads to the user select screen. I've tried disconnecting my NIC card HD and other hardware to narrow down my problem and nothing has worked HELP!!!

US robotics 56K win modem
It sounds like your computer is doing some sort of disk scan on start-up (maybe defrag, or virus scan, or indexing service, or ?). Check to see what services are activated at start-up.
Windows XP takes hour to boot!!!
