Problem installing a program

I am having problems installing Pro Tools on my PC. I have previosly had this program on here before but dleted it. Now when I tried to reinstall it, it only installs up to 49% then a box pops up reading:

Component transfer error

Component: Program Files

File Group: PT Folder Icon

File: <iconPath>\

Error: The filename, directory name, or volume syntax is incorrect

I also am unable to delete the partial dowload of the Pro Tools (the icon shows on my desktop, but when I click on it, it's not a valid program as it only download 49% of it)

Like I said, I have installed this on my computer before, I even got a replacement disc thinking it might be a scratched disk or something. I have followed the pre-install procedures but I still keep getting this message. Does anyone know what it means/ how to fix this? This is frustrating as it was a $450.00 program. Thanks

Mick

Mick38.

Hi Mick, can you uninstall this software from safe mode?

Also make a new file on your desktop, copy the contents from the CD onto your HDD in to the file you just made.

Run setup again, if the software won't install, then the CD is damaged.

If it does, your drive could be faulty.

Thanks, I'll try both of those things right now. I don't think the disk is damaged though because this is a replacement disk. I thought damage might be an issue (the reason why I got the replacement disk), but the old disk did the same thing. Okay, I'm going to try those things you reccmmened. I'll let you know. Thank you

Tried to remove the program (in safe mode). . it through the motions of deleting it, but fter it was one it stated that "maitainance was complete" (even though I was not performng the maintaiance fucntion) . . restarted the computer and it was still there As for downading the contents of the CD, it won't allow me to as it is copyrighted.

Use a third party software to uninstall it and delete registry keys left behind for the installer. I use System Mechanic 6 Pro ... Google and get the one you consider better for you

How about running a system restore to before you started to install the software?
