Generic Host Process and Internet Connection

Hi guys

I have a small business network for which i use a proxy for the internet connection. Only recently I started to have intermittent probs with the IC. It seems that the Generic Host Process for windows is causing this problem as each time the IC ends I get a pop up box stating "The Generic Host Process for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close".l After this i have to reboot the proxy in order to activate my IC again. The IC only lasts for about 5-10 mins and this error occurs again. I cannot get into event viewer to see what may be causing this prob as it states the files are corrupt. I have tried downloading and installing the fix from the MS website but without any joy.

IOf anyone knows what the problem may be then i would be ever grateful for any help on this. I would also like to know if it is possible to download a windows update package of some sort as as a .exe or something as i can't keep the IC on the proxy going long enough to download updates from the MS website.

What is your operating system ? If XP, do you have the service pack 2 applied ?What kind of proxy software are you running [NAME] / what version ?
