Stop Caused by Graphics Display Adapter Error Message
I have an intermittent problem when starting my computer:
Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER
Evidently some kind of glitch causes the display driver to hang resulting in an infinite loop while starting Windows. Has happened twice in the last 7 days, and a couple of times before that. Windows starts in VGA mode instead of high-res (1280 x 1024). This only happens during a cold boot after the computer has been turned off overnight.
System info:
OS: Windows XP Pro
MB: VIA K7 VTAPRO
VIA 4in1 Driver set: Hyperion 14.46 vp6 (latest from VIA)
CPU: AMD Athlon K7 1.33 GHz
Memory: 1.0 GB PC133 SDRAM
Display Adapter: 3DLabs Oxygen VX1 AGP 4X 32MB
Chip Type: GLINT R3
Display Driver version: 5.00.2195.1620 (latest from 3DLabs)
3DLabs recommends running AGP in NORMAL mode instead of TURBO. How will this affect performance? I do alot of 3D CAD work and need the high-end graphics performance, but I also want my 'puter to work!
Can anyone explain what's going on and how to fix it?
Thanks,
dedhed
