Can't create startup disk.

Guess what I can't do? Whenever I have a disk in my portable A: drive, right-click the A: drive, and click on Format, My Computer stops responding. I then have to use the Task Manager to get my computer to kill My Computer before it'll work again. I have no idea what's going on, but I do notice that, while my computer is NFTS, the A: drive is FAT.

FLOPPIES WILL NEVER DIE!

I know it's FAT because, due to the nonresponsiveness of the computer, I started the defrag, which labelled the A: as FAT. As for reading and writing, yes, since I had actually pulled some old files off the disk I was going to use. I don't believe the drive is dirty, as I've rarely used it and kept it in a drawer when not in use. And it's only about 2 years old, max, and due to the rarity of its use, I don't believe it's on its last leg.

OK, I did a double check and it turns out that the disk is FAT, not the drive.
