When it asks me to "open or save" or to "run"...

It automatically exits out of the box! Like when I try downloading something off the internet, the box that asks me to open or save it exits out right after I click to download! Also, when I want to run a program and it says something like "The publisher as yet to be verified, would you like to run this software" It exits it out of that box too before I can click anything. Like, right when I click it, it pops up for a moment then goes away, in less than a second. I dont' think it's a virus. I did two scans with two different scanning software and nothing came up.

If I hold the control key though, the boxes say open and lets me click. Wtf? How can I fix this? I'm sure it's just a simple problem, but I need a solution.

btw, I have XP home edition. I have AVG and Notron virus, and if you could help me, I'd really appreciate it.

First of all get rid of one of your anti virus programs. I sugest getting rid of Norton as its a resource hog.

second if your pc is up to date wid all the latest windows updates, you would have xp sp2 witch has a popup blocker intergrated into ie6. this is why you have to hold control to let things through.
To disable this just click Tools -> Pop-up Blocker -> Turn Off Pop-up Blocker

Well there is another problem, none of my other browsers are working (Opera and Firefox) while my IE works normal. I think it may be my Norton. I have both AVG and Norton, so I just want to uninstall Norton and be done with it. But I have to be logged in or something to do it, and when I click on the Norton shortcut, it just freezes there and I have to end the task. Also, when I use IE to google the word "Norton" it just exits out of Internet Explorer! Could I have spyware or is it just the stuff caused by Norton? Should I just have someone come and take a look at my pc?

try downloading Spybot and ad-aware, use these to try and eliminate any spyware, malware, adware problems you have.

if your not an administator you can't uninstall norton. if you start up in safe mode and go into the administrator account (if it hasn't got a password) you can give yourself admin rights.

Only call a company out to fix your pc as a last resort. i work for a company that charges call out fees and then labour on top of that and after about 2 hours your nearly looking at triple figures.

If you have the WinXP CD use it to do a system repair. To do this start the PC with it, go through the on screen prompts and when you get to the screen that says that "there is aready a previous installation of XP installed" do a repair.
