Cool An XP/NT "oops" issue...

I am a Teacher... In my Lab I have 17 XP Professional Machines networked with two NT 4.0 File Servers.

It used to be that when I used Explorer or Open Files in Office to access either of the NT servers it would ask me for a username and password. This was good.

I say "was" 'cause yesterday, I thought it would be clever to put a shortcut on the desktop of the XP machines linking to the Student Data server thus making it so the kids don't have to navigate the labarinth everytime they want to retrieve their Avril Lavine pictures or whatever...

(This is the *bad* part...) I checked the Remember Me box in the Login Window.

<sigh>

NOW... Every time I turn one of those computers on it logs into the servers as "guest" which works great for the kids but none of the staff can access the Admin server to get at THEIR stuff. Logging Off and Logging In as Administrator doesn't change things. System Restore didn't help. (Of course I deleted the ShortCut!)

The two computers I didn't get to yesterday still work the way they used to.

So how do I get the Beast to *not* remember me?

Open IE, go to Tools / Internet Options / content Tab / Auto Complete Button and uncheck all the Auto Complete options...then click on Clear passwords....Then log-in to the computer as local Admin ....go through document and setting and find the profile used to log in to the file server...and delete all the cookies & Internet Temp files...I think that would do the trick (remember, you have to log in from a Local Admin account).

Cheers

correction......what I had suggested is to for removing password for Internet Explorer not Windows Explorer....sorry about that

Here it is: Click Start and select Run ,
In the Open field type "rundll32.exe keymgr.dll, KRShowKeyMgr" , click OK...that will show you all the saved Windows Password...select any one you want and remove it.

Cheers
