dvd writer problem, please help!

hi,

my dvd rw will not burn any dvd or cds, it will read cds and dvds no problem.
this problem has only been the last few weeks, i have not installed any new hardware or drivers.
i have tried burning with nero, alcohol and my inbuilt software (nti) each of them will start to write the disc (i have tried cd and dvd) but will then stop, saying either unable to write or "illegal operation"

I hope this is just a software issue, as it will still read.

i should ad that i have unistalled and reinstalled the drive

You probably need a progran like a newer version of NERO, or some other similar program. Windows will give you the basic drivers to let it run in basic cd and dvd mode, but not for the full features. I say a newer version, because an older version will probably support cd features, but not dvd features. God luck Lenny

It was burning dvds fine up untill about 3 weeks ago, so i dont think thats the problem.
