NTLDR is missing

I am running Windows XP Pro on my computer.
When I installed it I used Xps multi-boot to install 3 versions of XP on 3 seperate partitions.
I backed up all the partitions in 1 file using PowerQuest Drive Image.
My problem now is that I want to just use one of these partitions and delete the other two.
I use Drive Image to delete the 2 partitions I do not want and Restore the remaining partition.
This goes o/k but when I reboot I get the error message:
NTLDR is missing.
I would like to know if there is any way around this.
Thanks
jack

NTLDR is Missing

I had exactly the same problem, i checked loads of forums, lots of people were saying copy the NTLDR from xp cd (xpcd:\i386\ntldr)
and NTDETECT.EXE (i386) onto your c:\ drive, and run the exe. Maybe i did the procedure wrong but it didn't work for me!

I tried loads of things, in the end i just placed the hard disk into my mates computer set it to slave and backed up my importent files and formatted it.

The NTLDR problem is now ok, but i have another problem which maybe nothing to do with it, but i know get a bsod "kernel_data_inpage_error" stop:0x0000007a, in windows xp randomly, but like i say this may have nothing to do with the NTLDR problem. Good Luck!

While this response comes too late to fix your original problem it may help you or others in the future.

It's highly likely that the "NTLDR is missing" error message was a direct result of your modifying partitions. If so, a simple edit of your boot.ini file to tell XP to look for NTLDR on partition 1, the only partition you had left, would have fixed the problem. (Note that there will be more than reference to a partition number in boot.ini, be sure to edit each of them.)

'Best,

Meister
