Changes in BIOS after RAM and Hard disk upgrade

Hello,
I am on old machine AMD Athlon, 600 MHz (3 x 200) with Tekram K7KX-A motherboard and Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG I use Windows XP SP2
Recently I have upgraded my RAM from 256 to 512 and my hard drive from on of 15GB to one of 40GB.
My question is: Do I have to make some manual changes in BIOS, so computer would full recognize new devices and use them in full power they can give out.

How did you upgrade the hard drive ? did you just image the old one on to the new 40 gig ? what software did you use, because most imaging software re-size the drive or expand it on the fly.

In regards to memory upgrade, yes you need to make some changes manually....but not in BIOS though , here is what you have to do:

Go to control Panel / System / Advance / on performance section click on "Setting" / select Advance TAB / on Virtual Memory section click on "Change" button / on "paging file size for select hard drive section" change the Initial size to 768 and Max size to 1536.....then click on "SET" button and OK and reboot the system.

Cheers

Hey snooker,

Optimum size of the page file is 1.5 times bigger then the size of the memory and it could go up to 2.5 x too but it's not recommended
