Windows xp - program access limited to administrator

When I install programs as administrator, limited users are unable to fully utilize the program. They have access to the program but only administrator can use the program without problems. (example - Dogz 5 locks up, asks for serial # etc.; Sims will not save.) I found reference to giving users more access by going into properties of the specific program and click "security tab" I do not have a security tab (perhaps that is only in professional edition??) I am using home edition. HELP. What is the point of having adminstrator/limited options if only adminstrator can run programs without problems!!

some programs need to be able to change files (like saving in sims) that is not allowed by limited accounts. a quick workaround is to right click the icon and select run as. this will allow the limited user to run that process with administrative priveledges. but it is a pain it the arse, because the limited user would have to do this every time. hope this helps.

Thanks. I didn't know that was an option. (although I'd still rather not have to enter my password for it to work).

Any suggestions on a good book for Windows XP? Not exactly basic, but not too technical.

"WindowsXP - Inside Out" by Ed Bott and Carl Siechert. Here is the Microsoft Press site, but you can get it cheaper from other book sellers.
