Vaio VGN-FE31H audio problem

I have a problem with the audiodriver on my vaio vgn-fe31h. I reinstalled windows on my notebook, since then there is a strange problem with my Sigmatel High Definition Audio driver.

After installing windows, I installed the updatepatch supplied by intel (http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...eng&PrdMap=954)
After this, I installed the sigmatel high definition audio codec I downloaded from the sony site, this was in a driver package.

Here comes the problem, when I start windows, I can play 1 sound. After playing the sound my soundcard stops working. Then, when I disable my audio codec, and re-enable it, I can play 1 sound again.

The OS i'm running is Windows XP pro Media center 2005 Dutch.

I also tried this patch: http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...4&submit=Go%21

Hi, I had the same problem with Sony Vaio VGN-FE31H.
Try to install KB835221 instead of kb888111. It's working.

have a look here
Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic.

Hope this helps
