HELP! Sound on Laptop Just Radomly Died!!

Hi, nice forum! Hopefully you guys can help me out here. The sound on my laptop decided to just randomly quit earlier tonight. And for whatever reason, I can't get it back... I made sure my volume settings were set, but I can't get any sound from either the speakers or my headphones. Apparently, the built in microphone works, but that's it. I also downloaded the latest RealTek HD drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled it, and I even edited the registry, but no prevail. The last thing I remember before it died out was me adjusting my startup settings.

Please help me out! I just seriously hope that this is only a software issue.

First try a System Restore to before you ammended the Startup.

if that does not work go here to Intel and update the chipset http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...4&submit=Go%21
No:1 in list Inf Update Utility then RESTART your comp

then install audio driver again

if you have a Win XP disc try a System File Check go to Run / type "sfc /scannow" ( without quotes and note space after sfc ) have disc available in case sfc needs to repair or replace any damaged files.

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Hope this helps

Nice cry for help lol,

OK, first of all, reply with as much information as you can about your PC.
i.e., make, model.
Any errors in device manager?
What sound card do you have? on board? PCi?
