Zipped folder not appearing

When creating a zipped folder in Windows XP, I find there is no consistancy with the folder appearing with the "regular" folders in the My Computer program. When I expand the folder that the zipped folder is created in, I may or may not see it in the left portion of the screen. The zipped folder always appears at the right with the files, but it would be more convenient to have it at the left.

Any help would be appreciated .... thanks

I want the folder to appear at the left (which it does occasionally, but not consistently), so that when I click on it, the files are displayed at the right, just like any other folder. This way I can access the files within the compressed folder without having to open another window.

Thanks .... but I have to know how to do it in Windows .... it's for a Windows class.

Thanks for your persistence! I want the compressed folder to be viewed on the left, its contents on the right. As stated earlier .... it will view this ways sometimes .... but not all of the time. I'm just trying to figure out if it's a glitch .... if it does this to everybody .... or is there a setting that I'm over-looking so that it will always appear at the left with the other folders.
