Post Desktop Background Keeps Disappearing after playing Games

Okay I'm a newbie, be gentle Here are the specs running Windows XP Professional Edition SP-1, on a Pentium 4 1.8ghz, with an ATI All-In-Wonder 8500 DV Card, with latest drivers, also Norton Anti-Virus 2003 is running in the background. everytime I play a game such as Unreal Tournament, Deus Ex, Simcity 4, etc, after exiting the game I return to my desktop and all of a sudden the Desktop Background Picture disappears and I have to do a refresh (right click, refresh) in order for it to come back, this is somewhat annoying, is this a driver issue? or a general XP issue? Is there a fix for it?

-Thanks

It sounds like some sort of issue as to where your wallpaper is saved. Is it a windows default wallpaper, or something you downloaded? I assume its not a windows default.

Check where you have your wallpaper saved. Try moving it to the my pictures folder if it isnt there already. If it is there move it to the C:/windows - folder and see if that helps any.

Had EXACTLY the same problem myself - its all down to system memory.

I noticed when i went back to windows after playing memory intensive games like Sim City 4 and Unreal 2.

As soon as increased the RAM in my system, the problem went away.

Cheers Daeymon - BTW - whats the spec on yours?

I'm pretty happy with my setup for the moment I think - I've got some rounded IDE cables and stuff on order to try and sort out the horrid mess that is the inside of my case

The only thing that is starting to get old is my Ti4200 as its not a full DX9 card- but I reckon it'll be good for a while yet though....
