No sound card detected

i currently have an hp a735w which comes with an ac'97 sound card. i recently installed a game that i downloaded from a gamershell, don't mean to advertise, called rFactor and then when i was done installing it my computer was goign really slow, so i then restarted my computer, and tried to join my friends teamspeak server and it said "No sound driver available to use." Well i went to the realtek website and got the correct driver and tried to install it, i restarted windows and again it said "No sound driver available to use." i checked in the Device Manager and the sound, audio, game controllers and i didn't see my sound card listed in there, i also went to the system restore point to when it was last working properly and it didn't work i've scanned for viruses with trend micro anti-spyware 3.0, AVG anti virus, and AdAware SE , but not a single virus was found.and it still will not let me reinstall the driver.

Is there any sound device listed in the Device Manager? If so, remove it before trying to install your updated driver. Also check Add or Remove Programs in the control panel & remove any software related to your sound card.

Without a sound card loaded you won't have any volume control features, they should be greyed out.
Try removing everything in the device manager in the Sound, Video, Game controller folder & restart Windows. If nothing is detected run the Add hardware wizard, when it asks if the device is attached say yes & see if your sound card is listed. If not, select the last entry "Add a new hardware device" & go to "Install the hardware that I install manually from a list", Select "Sound, Video, &Game controllers", click next then click "Have disk". Browse to the new drivers you've extracted & it should install. Good luck.

It still didn't work i still have no sound i've tried installing what worked the last time this happened to me and it did not work, could it be that my sound card is fried because of being continually used almost each day?

It's possible, I've seen that on the on-board sound cards once or twice. If you have or can borrow a PCI sound card you can test that theory quickly. Good luck!
