Whats running in the background?

Hello Friends,

Maybe someone can tell me why when I have my headset on and I am playing my game WOW, I keep hearing the clicks in the background as if something is happening in windows xp. Its as if something is running in the background, but i dont see anything. When I click ctrl alt del, the onlything that shows up is my game running.

Is there things running in the background that I might be unaware of besides my anti-virus?

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a microphone connected at same time? If so, try 'muting' it with the sound-cards proprietary software controls or with the 'Advanced' volume control settings in Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices.

No I dont have a microphone hooked up, its built into the headset. So I turned up the speakers, and i can still here the clicking sounds. I ran msconfig, and I dont see a lot of boxes chacked except the usual anti-virus, sound option, and windows programs. There must be something else running I cant see.
