XP Sound problems

This is a strange one! I am using XP on a Gateway Athlon 950 mhz computer with a Soundblaster Live! audio card.

I have used the sound out plug to feed into my large stereo in the next room, using the AUX plug.

All works fine if I am playing music with Winamp 3 or if I am playing music from the Sirius Satellite radio site (which I guess uses a proprietary player). System sounds will also come over the stereo.

BUT, if I am listening to music from the NY times website OR if I use Windows Media Player or Real One player, NO sound from the stereo via the AUX plugs. BUT I can hear the sound fine on my computer speakers, which are fed from the speakers plug on the card.

Device info seems happy, no exclamation marks, and if I do the troubleshooter stuff I'm told everything is working.

Think I have the newest drivers, etc.

Anyone have any ideas??
