Unhappy My optical drives no longer Autoplay!!! Help please!!!

Someone please help. I recently installed a few programs on my computer and now XP will not read my optical drives when I insert a new disk. This is particularly annoying when I am in NERO. Previously the computer would read the drive and contents and update the frames in NERO automatically. Now I have to click off my computer and re-click it to show the contents and yet the label for the drive remains the same as before. Although I installed a couple of programs, the one I think that did the damage was CDemulator. It's a program that creates a ghost cd drive on your hard drive. The worst part is that my system restore must have been wiped by it and I can't get back to my old settings. I've tried to fix the problem by using the device manager to re-enable autolay but there is no option for this. I am using XP Home edition on a Pentium 2.4 with a Sony cdrw and a Sony 16x DVD rom, Seagate 80g barracuda, mx440, gigabyte mb, 512 ram etc. I would greatly appreciate any help!!!

Well, first off, when you get get your system right again, shut restore ooff and then on and make a restore point. Should work properly after that. You are not alone.

Have triied to uninstall the programs? Check your bootup programs by going into run and type msconfig and untick the ones you don't want to boot. This should release your drives.
