Another sound problem!
I have been having a similar problem to many others who have posted, and have followed all of the advice in previous threads.
My comp is as follows:-
CPU IntelŪ PentiumŪ 4 3.06 GHz (Northwood)
Motherboard ECS SF2
Sound Card Realtek AC'97 audio
Sound Card Soundblaster Audigy
Running Windows XP SP2
I have installed the latest audio drivers from the ECS website, but that doesn't seem to help.
At first I thought the problem was the AC97 was broken so I bought the SB card and installed that - which initially fixed the problem, or so I thought..........
If I uninstall the SB and reinstall I get sound until the computer next restarts.
I checked the settings for Windows Audio in Component Services and the startup type is set to automatic, but under status it does not show as started. If I click start in the service status section, the service starts, it detects my sound device and everything works fine.........until I restart.
How do I ensure that the Windows Audio service starts automatically?
