weird problem

The problem I have is when I double click on my computer I get the flashlight searching for about a minute. this was after I was inadvertly infected with some sort of spyware.
it gave me a hech of a time to get rid of it and now I have this problem left over.
I built this computer 2 years ago and it has run perfect since. winXP corp.3.06 P4 ,756 ddr (iforget), I run Norton anti Virus only .no firewalls except windowsXP's.

any idea why all of a sudden it would be confused as to what it is looking for?

I also had the empty device manager and I fixed that through this for from Jazz's post 2 years ago.

BTW. the problem started when I was going thru" search results and a porn page popped up. I clicked on one of the videos to preview and it said wwe need to install this blah blah blah in order to view in windows media player. so like a dumb idiot I said what the heck.
Big mistake........................................... ...........
