Printer Installation Problem

I am trying to install HP Officejet 4255 All in One
on Windows XP Professional computer but cannot do so. My PC configuration is AMD Sempron 2500 Processor, 512 MD DDR RAM, 40GB Seagate HDD.

All the applications are working properly and there are no virus or spyware problems coz I check for them regularly.

I've the drivers CD and started the installation without attaching the printer first. Then when it asked for the same I attached it to a USB port. After attaching and waiting for a few moments I received the following error "Cannot install this Hardware. Invalid access to memory location."

I contacted HP support but all they could help me with was downloading an update from the HP website which said "Access Denied" but it has nothing to do with the error that I am getting.

I even checked the memory, cleaned it and placed it back in its slot but still the problem persists. I also changed the USB wire and the USB port as well but to no avail.

I've logged in with administrator account.

Plz help.

Remove the printer and reinstall it. Ensure the correct port is selected to install the printer e.g. USB.
