Windows Reinstall freezes in blue windows setup screen

Hi, I am having a problem reinstalling windows on my computer. I believe i got a virus which is destroying my internet connections and forcing me to reboot in order to reconnect to the internet. I decided to reinstall windows because it was long overdue anyway. I tried to install windows xp professional sp2. When i did this it froze in the windows setup blue screen (one of the first steps). After waiting for a very long time for this to unfreeze i gave up and turned it off. Now I am trying again and after setting it to load from the cd it still doesnt work. However, it doesnt freeze now, rather it goes through the processes in the blue screen where it previously froze, but then just restarts the computer and goes through the cycle again. Does anyone have any idea what i can do to fix this so i can finally reinstall my computer?

Hi ... Did you by any chance delete the partition and then recreate a new one to install windows again ? If not ? Give that a try ?

what system are you running as you might find that your hard drive is knackered or thatyou need to have your memory checked usually means that the hard drive has gone though

I suggest you reinstall windows xp profession sp1 using the disk you got with your pc. Then once you have done that. Download sp2 from the internet and upgrade.
Hope it Helps

i believe the issue is with the partition... i think it may have tried to install onto a partition that wasnt there or something like that. Can someone give me some advice on how to check the partitions while in the windowsOS and possibly create a new partition or delete the one that is broken.
