Simple Resolution Fix?

Hi Guys-

I have Dell Inspiron 6000. I have Windows Media Center version installed on my computer. My computer recently was broken and I had wiped it and reinstalled windows. Before my computer crashed, I had basic Windows XP edition installed and the resoltion looked fine. I've noticed my resolution is not right. It seems to be a bit stetched in a way. I'm picky about how it looks though - I like the more suttle picture, not the sharp picture. However, before anything happend, it was fine. I've messed around with the settings but I can't get it normal. What do I do?

Thanks

There are three variations of the Dell Inspiron 6000, centred on the native resolution of the widescreen display. They are:

1. 1920 x 1200

2. 1280 x 800

3. 1680 x 1050

Yours should be set to one of these. Bear in my mind, only one of those will be the correct setting for your particular screen, since all LCD displays have a 'native' resolution which gives the best quality. You shouldn't change it from the native setting as you might have done when you had a CRT monitor. You will have to look at your laptop's documentation to see which of the three settings above is correct for your screen.

Thanks pip22! It's weird - when I go to my control panel and change the screen resolution, it gaves me three options when sliding the little bar. Before I reinstalled it, I have a large selection of choices. Now I only have three. Is there a way I can get it back to my old resolution with my new setup of windows?

I've got the resolution set to where I like it now - is there anyway I can ad a sort of "softness" to the resoltion? The picture is more sharp than what I like.
