XP has no ethernet..... :/

Hello I am currently having a issue with my windowXP Pro SP2.

last night I diabled my ethernet connection by right clicking the icon then selecting disable then I defragmented my HD the next morning i woke up to see that defragmentor was frozen at 78% well I guess it was having one of those lame windows issues so i whent to close it then when i did that my computer froze sooo I waited a few minutes to see if it would un freeze its self but it didnt so I Ctl Alt Delete to see if it would pop nothing happend so I restarted it when it started I went to start my ethernet connection but it wasnet in my connections folder nothing was in it so I went to check the divice manger to see if there was any problems in there nothing wrong in there so I checked Direct X see if it could find any issues but there was nothing there so now im in the gutter because i have no clue what wrong aslo i tried to do a system restor but system restor was not activated befor so its not going to help....

my mobo is a p4m800pro-M and it has a onboard ethernet.

This appears to be an ECS motherboard, here is the link to drivers
http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Downloa...uID=35&LanID=9

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE

hope this helps

Since you said there were no problems in Device Manager, Windows still recognizes the network card (aka, network adapter, ethernet card) is installed.

Did you try using the "Create a new connection" wizard (Control Panel>Network Connections, left-hand pane) and just set the connection up again...or am I misunderstanding the question?

When you try to set up a new, identical connection and get to the window where it instructs you to enter the name of your ISP, enter something other than the name of your ISP. It doesn't care what you name the connection but if you use the same name as the original, it'll tell you the connection already exists.

Once you set up a second connection, the first may magically appear. At least, I've had that happen to me.
