Unhappy Login Problem

Hey, when i start up my computer, and go to log in, i click a profile, type the password and it says loading profile settings, then flashed the desktop real quick and says loging out, saving ur settings. It is like this for all profiles. It logs in then right away, it automatically logs out. I have Windows Xp Home on a Amd Athlon Xp 1800+, 256mb sdram, 64mb geforce2 mx400 and an 8 gig hard drive. Thanks for your time

theres a few things that can cause this, but unfortunately not many fixes.

heres the possible causes...and solutions that I know of

1.Bad ram...get it tested.
2.Xp activation has expired.....reinstall windows.
3.Virus has caused the profile to be corrupted....reinstall windows.
4.Critical logon files or profiles have been corrupted or deleted...reinstall windows.

Installing a new video card would not make you have to re-activate xp. Unless you have a magic computer.

Go to User Accounts and delete all accounts except the original. Click on "Change the way users log on and off." and uncheck all boxes. This way your computer will automatically go straight to the Desktop when starting. After this fix, then create any new user accounts you desire.

If you have an XP Operating System disk (blue, in my case) insert it in your drive and then turn off your computer. Restart the computer with the cd in the drive. A prompt will come up asking you to "press any key to boot from CD" -- then press any key. Then click on the command to "Repair Windows XP" and follow instructions.

You might hold out a little longer for someone to offer a clue as to what to do, but in my book you are a good candidate for reprograming. It really is not so bad to reprogram. Check out the thread on page 3 about a "Clean Install."
