Have a look at this on how to Format and do a Clean Install of Windows

There is an option to get it in a Text form, do this and print it off ,so you can follow closley.
There is a point in the install when you are asked to Delete the old installation, if you don't a warning appears that running 2 systems may cause instability, this is most likley where it went wrong.
one important point, make sure you know where to get drivers for your system, as some have a tendency to not install.
