No Audio Device Problems

I have a recently purchased Sony Vaio VGN-SZ3HP laptop. When I go to Control Panel / Sounds & Audio Devices / it states "no audio device". Under the Audio tab all the drop down boxes are greyed out and it says 'No playback devices', 'No Recording devices', and 'No MIDI playback devices'.

When I reinstall the Audio drivers, I get sound, and under Control Panel / Audio Devices it then states "Sigma Tel Audio". As soon as I start playing audio e.g. through iTunes, I get sound, but the settings all then immediately revert back to "No Audio Device" and as soon as I stop playing the music I can't get any audio again.

Any ideas please?!

I had the same issue; no sound; but drivers were there; everything looked fine. This stumped me for about a week. Okay; so this is how I fixed it. Go to "Start"-\"control Panal"-\"Administrative Tools"-\"Component Services". This will pull up a seperate window, on the left click "services (local)" from the tree. Go down to the "windows audio" service. If the service is on "disabled" or "manual"; right click and select "properties" under "startup type" change to "automatic"- click apply. click "start". Reboot!!

After completing a Windows update, I am having the “No Audio Device” error (not able to have sound). I also got the following error at start up: The instruction at “0x745f2780” referenced memory at “0x00000000”. The memory could not be read).

The startup error was fixed by:

1. Boot into safe mode (hold F8 key when starting the computer)
2. Disable automatic updates in Windows
3. Reboot system into normal mode
4. Do a manual Windows update
5. Enable automatic updates in Windows
4. Reboot once again

However, I continue with the audio and sound problem.

I followed the tip above (Go to "Start"-\"control Panel"-\"Administrative Tools"-\"Component Services"... etc...etc...)

But it did not work for me.

I notice on the Administrative Tool; Window Audio box the following:

Path to executable:
C\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe –k netsvcs

The svchost.exe does not seem right. I still have not audio.

when all threats have been removed, then can look at audio problem

I am also having this problem and I can't figure it out.... I even tried to download a new direct x and a new driver for my audio devices... I don't know why this is happening.... If anyone has figured it out, please tell me what you did
