Someone out there - thank you for saving my sanity.
We are running XP SP2 on an IBM clone desktop
My kids downloaded software called ReplayRadio sometime ago and we lost other sound functions including our microphone and vinyl to digital processing capability.
I think they then deleted the software but may not have uninstalled it (we are all technically-challenged). I cannot find any files with the name when I do a full search of all my drives.
The original Audio Device is a C-Media CMI8738/C3DX PCI and I can get all sound functions back by uninstalling the PCI Audio Driver in Add/Remove Programs and rebooting. The system then "finds new hardware" and asks me to install from the installation CD. This works fine and I can then set C-Media Wave Device as the default for Sound Playback and my Mic. for sound recording and check "Only use default devices".
I notice however that "Audio for ReplayRadio wave sound driver" and "Mixer for ReplayRadio wave sound driver" then show as Legacy Audio Drivers. I have tried the "Remove" button on them and they seem to disappear.
BUT -
everytime the system is shut down and restarted the Audio and Voice drivers all revert to ReplayRadio!!!! This is driving me nuts!
Sorry if I haven't given enough technical details - if you think you can help please ask me and I'll try to give you the information you require.
Thanks
Ricardo
