Windows XP laptop problem

Help........

A few days ago my laptop started to die in a big way.

I can be quite happily working away and suddenly the screen goes quickly to blue and then blank. Anything plugged into the usb ports ceases to work ie the red light on the bottom of the mouse is no longer present (it's as though there is no power to the ports). None of the keyboard functions work and neither does the power button. There is no disc operation light although if I put a cd in the draw it makes the noise as though it is reading it.

Error messages do flash up but to quick to read them.

I have not downloaded/installed any new programs or software for months and a virus scan reveals nothing.

I have tried restore to the last known good configuration but to no avail.

This problem happens even when running in safe mode.

The only other thing that I can state is that this problem seems to occur after the laptop has been on for a few hours regardless of being on mains power or battery.

There was a suggestion from a freind that I should reload the windows disc that came with my laptop but regretfully there is not one

Please can anybody help.

Thank you

This does not look like a Windows problem more like a hardware error. Can you boot the computer up again after it crashes? or do you have to wait a while. What type of laptop is it?

poorly laptop

Hi Monty

Thanks for the reply.

The laptop is a Packard Bell Igo.

I can turn it on straight away after it crashes but can only do so by pulling the battery and the power supply.

I have a bit more info re the errors.

This bit appears on the blue screen when it is going through it dying stage:
bccode: 10000000a, bcp100000000, bcp200000002, bcp300000000, bcp4804e6c92. osver 5_1_260, sp:2_0. Product 768_1.

WHen the machine eventually reboots (and this can take 15-20 mins) I get a message saying window has recovered from an error etc and tell windows about this problem. The meaasge in the error that is sent to windows is:

Temp\weroe3d.diroo\mini020307-02dmp
Temp\weroe3d.diroo\sysdata.xml

Once again any help would be appreciated.

Thank you
