The motherboard has onboard audio > Realtek AC'97

but the report shows a Sound Blaster Audigy LS sound card installed

Do you have 2 sets of audio plugs, on a top of tower on I/O plate ( near keyboard. mouse + other sockets

Another much lower down tower in an exspansion slot ( PCI slot ) they could be silver in colour

Hope this helps

Well I have a set for my realtek chip and a set that plugs into my soundblaster card.I have tried plugging them into every output on both sets but nothing.I know the speakers work because I can plug my ipod into them and hear music, also I have tried plugging in a set of headphones and still get nothing.Do you think I need a BIOS update or something?

Check this out
Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Properties / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device. It should show Soundblaster.

For your sound card to work, onboard needs to be disabled, I don't think you need to update the BIOS

Cheers

To disable onboard do I go into BIOS and disable the AC97 audio or is there another way to do it without restart? Never mind I disabled in device manager but still no sound.

First get the drivers for both audio
SoundBlaste here http://uk.europe.creative.com/suppor...pe=1&x=22&y=14

try installing this driver to see if sound comes back

Realtek here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

now I'm not too sure on this, but if you go to Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers > Realtek AC'97 and right click there is an option to Disable.

Before installing any drivers SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT JUST IN CASE

HOPE THIS HELPS

I can't get the soundblaster to work it says setup can't detect a supported product on your system.please ensure that your product is properly installed before running this setup.

Go here, have a look under Sound Issues > donald92duck's post > RB Rocket has posted on how to manually install the sound driver ( in other words make Windows see it ) http://72.29.80.128/Forum/

let me know how it goes
Cheers

Yeah I've tried manual install but it says that it can't find a better match than the one I have installed.I'm not sure if this is even a driver issue cause it's kind of wierd that both my realtek and my soundblaster don't work.

Check this out
Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply > click Start > Reboot.

If this doesn't correct then you will need to go into the BIOS and disable onboard.

Cheers

Yeah it's on auto,I will go into BIOS and disable onboard again but I have tried this and still no sound.Do you think this could be a bad windows install because my comp only came with a windows recovery disc and not the actuall winxp cd so that's what I used to reinstall. Also someone else told me that when you reinstall windows you should only have monitor, keyboard and mouse hooked up and when I reinstalled I didn't unplug anything,so maybe this cause a problem?

Got to sleep now, but I want you to go here to SiS and run this program, it will tell you what Chipset drivers you need from SiS http://www.sis.com/support/support_prodid.htm

you wll need to install an active X, accept the site is safe, post back what it gives.but you can safely install the drivers they recommend. But it is sure to be the BIOS SiS always do this, it happened to me.

Cheers

How am I supposed to sleep when I don't have sound on my comp.lol j/k So here is what that site said:Results:

North Bridge Chipset: M650
South Bridge Chipset: 962/962L
Graphics Processing Unit: ATi

Related drivers:

Categories DensityDevice Available for Download
Graphics ATi N/A. Provided by board maker.
AGP SiS Acceleration Graphic Port
IDE SiS IDE Controller
USB USB 1.1 / USB 2.0 N/A. Provided by OS.
Audio SiS 7012 Audio Controller
LAN SiS 900 Fast Ethernet Controller

I have downloaded and installed all the drivers just in case but guess what, the only one that won't work is the audio download.lol man this comp is cursed. When I download it and unzip, then click setup.exe it starts but then an error box pops up with this -536870397 with the only option is to click ok,then it says:fail to install audio driver for winxp setup will close. It doesn't give any details or anything about what went wrong.Maybe I'm missing files from my registry or something because like I said I completely overwrote my hard drive with DBAN.By the way THANK YOU for the effort thus far!!!
