Exclamation Windows XP SP1 ERROR MESSAGES!

I'm in need of help! I have a LEGIT copy of Windows XP Professional on my one computer. I have the OEM verision that came preinstalled on my other omputer. I've NEVER had a problem applying Updates before until now. I installed SP1 on my first computer without any problems at all. When I went to do it on my second computer, I ran into trouble.

After SP1 had downloaded from Windows Update and the installer had launched, I immediatley got an error saying: "Access Violation, Access is denied." It then dumped me right back to my desktop. Does anyone know why this could be. I'm using an Administrator account and I disabled my firewall and anti-virus software. Anyone know how I can fix this?

Any help offered will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You are only allowed to install XP on one computer only. I'm surprised that you didn't mention any activation problems for your second install.

augie2-

Sorry, I worded my original post stupidly. My one computer is running the OEM version of Windows XP that came preinstalled. My other computer is running the Windows XP that I purchased in the store.

Now to get back on track, does anyone have any ideas about how I can install SP1?

try killing the registry entry for the activation key and re-entering it.
