Xp install I386/kdcom.dll error code is 4

Hi, I wonder if someone can help me.
here is my system

1. windows xp pro
2. Toshiba satelite pro 6100 2 ghz
256 RAM SODIMM pc1200
Hitachi 40go HDD

3. I am booting from the winxp pro cd and after 30 second, it say: File \i386\KDCOM.DLL couldn't be load. Error Code 4.. . .Setup cannot continue. press any key to exit. I try many thing I've seen on internet like, disable cpu cache, format again and create a new primary partition, or copying the xp cd to my hard drive and start winnt.exe from cd by dos. It all didn't work. What should I do? I can install win98 but it don't work besause this laptop is not design for win98.

Hi Armind, you should be able to insatall 98 on your laptop and then aleast you could rule out hardware failure. I have to ask is this xp cd a copy?

Actually, My dad just buy a brand new windows xp with vista upgrade, so yes its a real cd. But i can install win98 but I can't make it work(like driver or something that is not compatible with win98, like my WIFI or sound card) So i am really desperate. Got to buy another HDD?

If you can insatll 98 your hard drive is ok so we need to look at the cd. Can you start over again, boot up with xp and do a full format on the boot drive and try insatlling again.
